Tilleke & Gibbins Second Hundred
Years Forest Project
Established by Tilleke
& Gibbins in conjunction with Rajapruek Foundation
with the cooperation of the Royal Thai Army and the Forestry
Department, the objectives of this project are reforestation,
re-establishing watershed, and activating and heightening
awareness of the environment and the importance of conservation.

First Project
The first project, which spanned
a period of three years (1993-1996), involved a 175-rai
(70-acre) area of barren land in the buffer zone of the
Huay Kha Kaeng Wildlife Sanctuary, a World Heritage site
located in Ban Pubon, Amphoe Banrai, Uthai Thani Province.
Approximately 17,500 local trees were planted, including
neem trees, pterocarpus, wattle, governor's plum, and other
tropical plants. This project was completed in 1996.

The second project (1997-1999),
launched to celebrate the Golden Jubilee in 1996 of His
Majesty the King's accession to the throne, was in the Pooluang
Wildlife Sanctuary, Tambon E-Poom, Amphoe Dansai, Loei Province,
covering a land area of 200 rai (80 acres). Approximately
20,000 local trees were planted, including casod trees,
cervera odollam, pterocarpus, alstonia scholaris, bauhinia
purpurea, malacca tree, and tamarind. This project was completed
in December 1999.

In May 2000, Tilleke &
Gibbins commenced its third tree-planting project in the
flatlands surrounding Pasak Cholsit Dam in Lopburi Province
involving 200 rai (80 acres) of land. Approximately 20,000
local trees were planted, including Indian almond, pterocarpus,
malacca tree, tamarind, alstonia scholaris, malabar ironwood,
tabebuia rosea, casod tree, star apple, drumstick, and others.
This project was completed in December 2002.

Tilleke & Gibbins celebrates
its 110th anniversary this year. To commemorate this auspicious
occasion, the firm has undertaken a new reforestation project
which was launched on August 2, 2003. The planting site
is a 200-rai (80-acre) area located in Amphoe Sikiew, Nakhon
Ratchasima Province (pictured below). This will be a three-year
(2003-2005) project that will involve the planting of 20,000
trees altogether, including drumstick trees, margosa or
neem trees, butea superbas, flame trees and ormosia trees.
